The Stickmaker

Walking sticks can be made out of a
wide range of materials, each of
which requires an unique approach by
a craftsperson to achieve the best
result. In making his walking
sticks, the Stickmaker uses a
variety of materials such as hazel,
holly, ash, chestnut & blackthorn
(the favourite wood) in making the
sticks, and burr elm, antler & horn
for handles.
The Stickmaker
can be seen in his workshop at
Amberley throughout the season, with
samples of his wares proudly on
show. Always happy to answer
questions on his work, and to talk
people through the numerous stages
involved, the craft seems an almost
hypnotic draw for many visitors to
Amberley - come and see for
yourselves...
As with all
our craftspeople, the Stickmaker is
happy to undertake bespoke projects
- simply contact him via the Museum
