ABOUT DONATIONS

The Museum's collection of exhibits has grown over the years thanks to kind donations from many people.
Such donations have helped the Museum to develop and will ensure that future generations can appreciate a wide variety of historic items.

Some points to consider

The Museum, however, cannot accept every item it is offered. As with all museums, we work to a policy that sets out what items we collect. For example, we do not collect office equipment or sewing machines. This policy also prevents us from collecting duplicate items. We are also limited by space as our exhibit and store areas are almost at capacity.

For these reasons, the Museum can only accept exhibits on the basis of our Curator's decision. All potential donations must be discussed with the Curator in the first instance. Please do not bring items to the Museum, unless agreed by the Curator, as they will not be accepted.

The best way to contact the Curator is by filling in the online form in this section of the website or by writing to the address given below. If the item fits in with our collecting policy, the Curator will contact you; if you have not heard within one month of submitting your enquiry this is because we are unable to accept this item into the collection. The Curator cannot provide valuations or consider exhibits that are being offered for sale.
