The role of blacksmith at Amberley was in place long before the Museum.
The original means of transporting chalk and lime around the quarry site was by horse and cart, and a blacksmith was vital to ensure horses were adequately shod and other repairs could be carried out on site.

Although the reasons have changed over the years for having a blacksmith on site, it is just as important, as Kat provides visitors with the opportunity to see traditional metalworking techniques for themselves.

Kat's work has won acclaim from a number of quarters, and she is able to undertake a wide variety of projects for customers. For further details, contact Kat at the Museum on 01798 831370.
