This exhibition is housed in the former bagging shed for the De Witt kilns.
The exhibition traces the development of concrete from c.5600 BC to the present day.
The history of concrete
Included are photographs, models and a number of artefacts, among them, a small press for making concrete roofing tiles similar to those produced by the Pepper Company at Amberley from the 1880s, and a good example of Roman concrete. Also to be found here are such modern curiosities as concrete canoes that actually float, and concrete bows capable of firing arrows.
