Now blocked off at one end and used for narrow-gauge locomotive storage, the tunnel became the mouth of "Mainstrike Mine" James Bond film A View to a Kill, released in 1985. |

From bags to boots
Filmed for 14 days during August 1984, the area was dressed as a silver mine on the outskirts of San Francisco, and was pivotal to the film's climax. Roger Moore, Christopher Walken, Grace Jones and Tanya Roberts were among those filming on site. |
