The Timberyard promotes the importance of timber in past rural industry.
The yard includes a wide range of equipment, such as saw-benches, cranes and engines.
Traditional timberworking
Also on show is a 1937 Smith's of Rodley rail-borne steam crane. After use at nearby Charlton Sawmills, it underwent a complete restoration at the Museum. It is used from time to time (most notably our Wood from the Trees event, held in early September).
