Bicycle Collection

Cycles were invented in the early 1800s and have filled a need for affordable, personal transportation ever since. This exhibition covers almost 190 years of cycling history in Britain, from 1818 to the 2000s.

Come and see our Bicycle Repair Shop, (displaying the contents of Floyd’s repair shop from Littlehampton), and visit the exhibition in the Pavior’s building showing the history of bicycles from the boneshakers of the 1860s, through to the Itera plastic bike of the 1980s. Watch out for our Historic Cycles Day where you can see some of our collection and visiting bikes in action.
