Dark Skies Event

18 February 2026, 6.30pm – 9pm

Dark Skies at Amberley Museum! This Event has now SOLD OUT.

Amberley Museum is hosting one of the South Downs National Park’s much-loved Dark Skies event this February half-term. Join us after dark for a magical evening exploring the wonders of the night sky, from distant stars and planets to the fascinating nocturnal wildlife that emerges once the sun goes down.

Visitors can enjoy stargazing through a range of telescopes with the South Downs Planetarium (weather permitting), alongside a host of immersive activities designed for all ages. Follow the brand-new Dark Skies Explorer Trail, a short, accessible audio trail where you’ll journey with the Great Bear, or take part in guided night walks along the nature trail.

The event welcomes astrophotographer Abby Moule, who will give an inspirational talk, showcase her stunning work in the astrophotography exhibition, and be on hand to answer all your astrophotography questions. Adding to the magic, storyteller The Bard Dawn will bring Dark Skies myths and stories to life.

There’s plenty for families to enjoy too, including a short Dark Skies film on virtual reality headsets, space-themed games and activities, a giant jigsaw, dressing up, colouring sheets and constellation Top Trumps.

Come and discover the universe revealed under Dark Skies at Amberley Museum.

18 February 2026, 6.30pm – 9pm.

Price: £10 per adult with children (aged 5-17) free. Up to 3 children per adult.

This event is organised by South Downs National Park, so Museum membership cards are not valid for this event. However visitors will be able to enter their car registration and park free of charge.

Come dressed for the weather and bring a torch! Please note that the usual Museum displays, the bus and the train will not be operating on this evening.
