Nature Festival

Join us at Amberley Museum for a celebration of the great outdoors!

Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature with interactive exhibits and hands on activities for the whole family. Experience how nature is used in our Greenwood Village, with our skilled volunteers showcasing a range of skills that connect nature and historical craftmanship.

From exploring woodland trails to discovering local wildlife. Nature day at Amberley Museum is a perfect opportunity to reconnect with the wonders of the world.

What will you discover?

  • Nature trail – talk a walk in nature on our 2 nature trails, find out who lives on them, what grows there and try out our eco toilet!
  • Traditional Weaving – We are joined by the Amberley Weavers who will be demonstrating their craft
  • Broom Making – Our resident broom maker will be giving demonstrations throughout the day
  • Walking stick making – see how our experienced walking stick makers select the right wood, shape and decorate their own unique walking sticks
  • Stone Carving – see how this ancient art form comes to life in our greenwood village
  • Bodger -our resident Bodger will be showcasing how he “bodges” items like chair legs, highlighting the ingenuity and resourcefulness of past craftspeople
  • Rake and Gate hurdle Makers – how many different things can be made out of wood? Find out here!
  • Craft stalls – with gifts and goodies made from natural products
  • Local Nature charities – including ABC Animal Sanctuary who will also be bringing Buddy the Shetland Pony! Sussex Green Living, Sussex Wildlife trust and South Downs National Park

Museum General Admission.

Train and bus rides are included for no extra cost.

Why Pre-book Tickets?

Our car park can reach full capacity on event days, so we ask everyone to pre-book their admission ticket to help us manage numbers in the car park.

Members and volunteers can pre-book complimentary tickets at no charge through the same booking system.

If there are no tickets available for your chosen day, the event is fully booked so we recommend not making a special journey as we cannot guarantee that you will be able to visit.

Extra Information
Amberley Museum is located in the heart of the South Downs National Park. Often referred to as multiple museums in one, the Museum has over 20 exhibition areas.

The Limeburners Cafe will be open for lunches and snacks, ice creams and hot drinks are also available. There are also outdoor picnic areas.

Well behaved dogs on short leads are welcome.
